I received the character designs from my teammate Landon. The characters seemed simple enough, so I dove right into poly modeling as opposed to a sculpt and retopologize workflow.

Character texturing

We wanted to have a more expressive look to our textures. So in substance painter I was able to paint on the world space normal maps and then after converting them Substance Designer to tangent space normal maps, we had animation ready hand painted textures.

For the villain Moon Lord, we wanted him to glow with energy when he was using his superpowers. For this I created masks and used emissive shaders so that certain parts of his body would emit light and glow in the dark.
